March 20th 2009 - Battlestar Galactic Series Finale
This show was one of the best series on Television. To me it transcended the SciFi genre and reach a level of excellence only seen in Emmy award wining dramas. I believe because it was a SciFi show on cable it never receive an Emmy that it richly deserves. It has won critical acclaim from critics who recognized its excellent writing, acting and effects.
Last night I saw the 2 hour series ended which was sad because of its finality but happy becuase they gave me closure. I did not have to sit there and say "What the Frak" like I did with the Soparnos ending. In leading up to this final season the shows producers kept saying all will be revealed. I had a lot of anticipation wondering if I would be satified with what was finally revealed and I can say I was satified.
If you have never watched the show it is worth renting the show and experiencing great television. What was amazing was even with such a large cast you really got to know each character. The show did not flinch from tough subjects like tourture, genocide, prejudice, technology run amok, the dangers of nuculear and biological weapons. What I enjoyed most of all was humanity still shined through without the need for a prime directive (Star Trek) to keep it in check.
I am still dealing with the lost of these characters I have become fond of and will miss.
So say we all!
