The night photos remind me of the one night in Hong Kong that I got lost at the Kowloon night market... I was with 8 or so people and we were at the night market but there weren't a lot of vendors that night. We thought it was because of the rain (?) but there were still some vendors. Anyway, I went away from the group to look at some jewelry that a sidewalk vendor had, when I looked up again everyone was gone. There were throngs of people at the market that would come through in waves. I thought I had lagged behind so I walked faster, looking back periodically to see if I could find anyone I recognized no one. I/we were by a public park and all these old Chinese men were playing card games. It was kind of creepy because it was night and they were all men and most of them were smoking. Anyway, I passed the park and the fortune tellers, yes, you read that right, and still couldn't find anybody I knew. I even went back to the corner where I had last seen everyone and then ran past the fortune tellers (to make up for lost time), hurried up the street and found the real night market. There were dozens upon dozens of vendors and stalls and the evening was abuzz with light and people. Scanning all the faces, there was still no one I recognized.
Defeated and scared, I decided to go back to the jewelry vendor. When I did, I saw Francesca. I was probably gone for an hour. She thought I was kidnapped. I wondered how 8 people get so lost??? Apparently they were standing no further away than 5 feet but I hadn't seen them. Lesson learned, when lost, go back to where you last saw your party. It was exciting, scary and an experience. And yes, we did go back to the shopping.
